How to Find Someone Using their Image

Updated: Aug 1, 2019

You might have stumbled upon a picture that you need to find who's on it or you just have to find a person's name, date of birth, number or any other basic info and the only thing you have is a picture.

Have no fears you can always do that using some tools.

1, USING Facebook

Yes, that's right you can use Facebook to search for the profile of the person in the picture.

Although, you may be able to find their Facebook profile if they've made the information you want public.

Note: You can only do this using Facebook on your browser not on the app.

Facebook assigns a numerical ID to all photos uploaded onto it's social media channel. Any images downloaded from Facebook will have that numerical ID as part of the file name by default. If you know this number, you can use it to find the source of the picture on Facebook.

Searching for a photo on Facebook? Follow the below steps.

STEPS:

1. Right-Click on the picture you want to search for (i.e the picture on facebook)

2. Select Open in New Tab. If you are using a different web browser, select View Photo/, View Image, or a similar options.

3. Look for three sets of numbers separated by underscores in the address bar.

4. Locate the middle string of numbers. In this example, that is 10219144035453905. This is the ID number you will use on Facebook to find the image.

5. Type (or copy and paste) https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid= into another browser's address bar.

6. Paste the ID number (10219144035453905) of the image directly after the = in the address bar with no spaces

7. Press Enter to go directly to the photo on Facebook and find the profile on which it was posted.

Searching for a downloaded Facebook photo? Use the below steps

STEPS:

2. The picture will have fb in the file name

3. The file will have three sets of numbers separated by periods.

4. Locate the middle set of numbers. Eg. fbid=737463636537e&set=a.12599254846537.2345.107445546444&. The underlined set is what we are looking for. (Make sure it does not include any decimal)

5. This number set is the profile ID of a Facebook user.Type in the URL; https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=

6. Type the profile ID number after the =

7. Press enter and you should be able to see the profile of the FB user.

2. USING Google Reverse Image Search:

1. Just Visit images.google.com

2. You will see a ‘Camera Icon’ along the search bar

3. Click on the Icon and upload the image from your device gallery

4. Hit enter and you will be shown with results corresponding to the pic.

Note: To get more custom results you can change the Search keyword to site: Facebook.com This will only give the image search results from Facebook

making the process of finding the FB profile easier.
